Embraced by the Creator – Finding Light in the Shadows

Embraced by the Creator – Finding Light in the Shadows

By Kateb Nuri-Alim Shunnar

Deep in my heart was a sadness so intense, so consuming, that it seemed to wrap its jagged, choking fingers around every bit of joy I once knew. Pain is not just heartache; it’s a storm, one that shakes a person to their core. It lingers like a splinter hidden in your food undetected at first, but scraping against you until you're raw. I know this storm well. It has raged within me, whispering lies that I wasn’t good enough, that I had to change or shrink myself just to be seen, just to be loved. But that isn’t true.

The only love that never abandons, never wavers, never asks you to be anything other than who you truly are is the love of the Creator. His love is constant, unwavering, and unlike anything found in this world.

People walk away. They let you down. Sometimes, the ones who should love us most leave whether by choice, by circumstance, or by wounds they carry themselves. That kind of abandonment cuts deep. It makes you question your worth, your purpose, even your existence. It can make you wonder if you were ever truly loved at all.

But the Creator the One who breathed life into you, who shaped you with intention does not love like the world does. He is not fickle. His love is not conditional. He does not take back His grace when you stumble. No, He holds you in the stillness of the night, in the depths of despair, in the moments when the weight of life feels unbearable.

I know because I’ve been there. I’ve walked through that darkness where depression, anxiety, and frustration claw at your soul. The deeper you sink, the louder the whispers become: No one cares. Things will never change. You are alone.

But I am telling you now if you don’t fight back, if you don’t reach for the hand that is always extended to pull you out, that darkness will consume you. It will strip you of warmth, of love, of hope. It will make you indifferent, bitter, angry, hostile at odds with everything good. It will turn your heart to stone. The world will try to flatten you, but the Creator can breathe life back into you if you let Him.

The way out is not through numbing the pain, ignoring it, or pretending to be okay. The way out is surrender. It is falling at the feet of God and saying, I cannot do this alone. And you don’t have to. He will send people to stand with you, to pray over you, to lift you when you have nothing left. But you must open your heart to receive it. You must allow healing to begin.

We were not meant to walk this life alone. We were made for love, for connection, for compassion. Even when human love fails, divine love never does.

So when you feel abandoned, remember this: You are not forgotten. You are not unseen. You are being held by the One who created you, who shaped every detail of your being with purpose and love. No rejection from this world can ever change that truth.

Hold onto that truth let it be the light that leads you out of the shadows. And when you find that light, reach back. Extend your hand to those still lost in the dark. Because that is what real love divine, unconditional, boundless love does.
