A Writer's Journey: Reflections from the Heart.
By Kateb Nuri-Alim Shunnar
Often, I reflect on life and the essential components that we, as human beings, need to truly thrive—family, community, liberty, integrity, egalitarianism, education, food, health, clothing, and shelter. These are the building blocks of our collective well-being, the pillars that hold up the structure of our existence. Yet, amidst all these vital elements, there is one that stands above the rest, like the sun that rises to illuminate the world: our connection to the Creator, the sustainer of all that is seen and unseen. Without this divine connection, everything else, no matter how essential, feels incomplete.
As I journeyed through life, constantly meditating on existence, engaging in fasting, praying, and meditating, I found my inner vision sharpening. My eyes became fixated on the path of uprightness, like a compass always pointing north. My heart, long burdened by the weight of worldly concerns, began its purging process, releasing the dross and impurities that had clouded its clarity. Through the infinite grace of the Creator, my mind began to expand, not unlike the ever-growing universe, embracing wisdom and understanding that I had never before comprehended.
During this period of spiritual awakening, I felt a profound urge to record the thoughts and inspirations that flowed through me. It was as if my soul had become a vessel, eagerly pouring out the truths that had been planted within me. These words, these reflections, were not penned with the intention of gaining fame or amassing wealth. Instead, they were written with the sincere hope of touching the hearts and minds of my fellow human beings, of stirring something within you that resonates with the deeper truths of life.
In one section of this book, you will find a poem titled "Tell Them I’m a Human Being, Just Like Them." I wrote this piece to remind you that I am no different from you. I am not a self-proclaimed scholar or sage. I am simply a writer with a warm heart and a peaceful soul, who cares deeply about the well-being of all who inhabit this earth. Like a gardener who tends to his plants, I only wish to nurture the seeds of thought and inspiration within you, to help them grow into something beautiful and meaningful.
I offer you these reflections not from a place of superiority, but from a place of shared humanity. I am here, walking this path of life alongside you, learning, growing, and evolving with every step. As I put pen to paper, my intention is not to instruct but to inspire, not to preach but to provoke thought, not to lead but to walk with you as we seek the light together.
To all who read these words, I extend my heartfelt thanks. You have chosen to embark on this journey with me, and for that, I am deeply grateful. May you find within these pages the encouragement, solace, and inspiration that you seek.
In ink and in prayer,
I write from the heart, a light—
Guided by the soul.
